As we head into the 2026-2027 licensing and renewal season for GA COAMs and the adoption of new regulations effective July 1, 2026, Lucky Coin wants to make sure that all of our customers are up to date on the Georgia COAM Gift Card frequently asked questions by locations and customers. With some recent significant changes, we wanted to make sure that we had answers to any questions that you may have on the gift card redemption process as it relates to Georgia COAM gift cards. Below you will find the Georgia COAM Gift Card Frequently Asked Questions:
Question #1: Why am I being charged a gift card activation fee?
Answer #1: Gift card activation fees are standard charges set by the gift card provider, not by the location, master, or the GLC.
Questions #2: Who do I contact if I have questions about my gift card?
Answer #2: Players should first contact the business location where the gift card was issued. If more help is needed, they can call the gift card provider’s customer service number on the back of the card.
Question #3: Do COAM locations have to offer gift cards for prize redemption?
Answer #3: No. Gift cards are an optional redemption method that each licensed location may choose to offer.
Question #4: What should I do if the gift card kiosk isn’t working?
Answer #4: Players should notify the business location so the issue can be reported. Staff will contact the kiosk provider or technical support as needed.
Question #5: What is the maximum amount you can load onto a gift card?
Answer #5: The maximum load amount is determined by the gift card provider’s policies.
Question #6: What do I do if the gift card I received as a COAM prize is lost or stolen?
Answer #6: Cards are not able to be replaced by the location, master, GLC, or gift card provider.
Question #7: What if I am not a lottery retailer and can’t offer lottery products or gift cards starting July 1, 2026?
Answer #7: If a COAM Inspector finds no lawful prize redemption options on or after July 1, 2026, the location will receive a written warning. If the issue is not corrected by the follow-up inspection, the location will be issued a citation.
Question #8: What if my lottery application is not accepted by the District Office?
Answer #8: An application may be declined if sales in the immediate area do not justify adding another lottery retailer. You may contact the District office for clarification or to discuss whether future changes in the area may allow for reconsideration.
Question #9: What if I am a lottery retailer and I need more lottery tickets (scratch-off) to provide as COAM prizes?
Answer #9: If you need additional scratch-off tickets for COAM prizes, contact the Georgia Lottery Retailer Sales Department to place an order and replenish your inventory.
Question #10: Are COAM locations required to offer either gift cards or lottery tickets exclusively as redemption prizes, or can they provide both?
Answer #10: Locations may choose to offer gift cards, lottery tickets, or a combination of both as lawful redemption prizes. The decision on which type of prize is at the discretion of the location, as long as all prizes comply with COAM rules and approved prize types.
